The deep clean: what it covers and how it fits a regular service
Regular cleaning keeps a place tidy. A deep clean resets it. It reaches the places that build up grime slowly: behind appliances, inside cupboards, along skirting boards and in grout lines.
When to add a deep clean
- Spring cleaning, or getting a home or office back on track
- Before or after an event or a busy period
- Before guests or family arrive
- After renovations or building work (see after-builders cleans)
- At the start of a regular cleaning service, so the regular visits can keep up
- Once or twice a year as part of an ongoing contract
- Preparing a home for sale or photos
What it usually covers
- Kitchen: inside the oven and microwave, rangehood, cupboard fronts and insides, splashbacks, behind and under movable appliances
- Bathrooms: descaling showers and glass, grout, exhaust fans, behind toilets
- Living areas: skirting boards, door frames, light switches, window sills and tracks, high dusting
- Floors: thorough vacuum and mop, including under furniture where possible
- Optional extras: carpet cleaning, windows inside and out, walls spot-cleaned
How to get the most from it
- Clear benches and floors where you can, so time goes on cleaning rather than moving things
- Point out problem areas at the start
- Say if you prefer eco-friendly products
- Book extras like carpets or windows at the same time
