The office cleaning checklist: daily, weekly and monthly
Every office is different, but most need the same core tasks done at different frequencies. Use this as a starting point and adjust it for how busy your space is.
Daily (or every clean)
- Empty bins and replace liners, separate recycling
- Clean and sanitise toilets, basins, mirrors and taps
- Restock toilet paper, hand towels and soap
- Wipe kitchen benches, sinks and tables; load or unload the dishwasher
- Wipe high-touch points: door handles, light switches, lift buttons, rails
- Vacuum high-traffic carpet and mop hard floors in kitchens and bathrooms
- Spot-clean glass doors and entry areas
Weekly
- Vacuum all carpeted areas, including under and around desks
- Mop all hard floors
- Dust desks that are clear, sills, ledges, partitions and shelves
- Clean inside microwaves and wipe fridge doors and handles
- Wipe meeting room tables and chairs
- Clean internal glass and partitions
Monthly
- Dust high areas: vents, light fittings, tops of cupboards
- Clean skirting boards and door frames
- Clean out the fridge (with notice to staff)
- Wipe chair bases and spot-clean upholstery
- Detail bathrooms: grout, partitions, behind fixtures
Every few months
- Carpet steam or deep clean
- Window cleaning, inside and out
- Hard floor scrub and seal (where applicable)
- Pressure wash entries and outdoor areas
Tips
Put the checklist into your cleaning scope so everyone agrees what’s included. Kitchens and bathrooms usually need more attention than you think, so build them in from the start. Ask your cleaner to flag supplies running low rather than waiting until they’re out.
